Prices for commercial usage (within for-profit entities or for commercial purposes) or for governments (government agencies and departments). Semi-autonomous government research laboratories (e.g. NIH) qualify for academic pricing so long as PyMOL is being used for public research.

Definitions:

Power Users are your computational chemists, structural biologists, modelers, and bioinformaticians who make heavy or routine use of PyMOL. Power Users may use PyMOL Open-Source and Incentive Products, are entitled to maintenance and upgrades, and can issue direct support requests to DeLano Scientific.

Casual Users are your molecular biologists, synthetic chemists, "bench" scientists, project managers, and executives who make only light or occasional use of PyMOL. Casual Users may use PyMOL Open-Source and Incentive Products, are entitled to maintenance and upgrades, but are not entitled to direct usage support from DeLano Scientific. Instead, they get such assistance from Power Users within your organization who mediate contacts with us.
Developer Users are your programmers tasked with building or maintaining in-house systems that integrate with PyMOL. To work efficiently, these users need direct access to DeLano Scientific's PyMOL development staff to obtain detailed technical assistance.

Annual subscription purchases are required for access to maintenance, support, and other subscriber-only benefits. For example, Incentive Products like our convenient precompiled PyMOL Executables may only be used by current PyMOL subscribers.

License purchases are optional because PyMOL is based on open-source code. The PyMOL Open-Source License already permits you to compile and use open-source versions of PyMOL without cost or obligation, and all PyMOL Subscribers are automatically entitled to access and use current PyMOL Incentive Products for the duration of their subscription.

Perpetual Licenses

Though license purchases are NOT required, we do offer perpetual license agreements as an alternative to open-source or enclosed EULA-based licensing for customers that need countersigned license contracts granting perpetual rights of usage. Perpetual license purchases can include subscription services from one to three years, and they include an enduring discount on maintenance & support services purchased for those licensed users.
